John Richard O Neill, 64

April 1, 1953 to July 30, 2017

John Richard O’Neill, 64, of Hennepin died on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at his home with his loving family by his side.

John was born on April 1, 1953 in Peoria to Leo and Loretta (Johnston) O’Neill. He married Nita Braun on September 18, 2004.

He graduated from Tiskilwa High School and attended Illinois State University. He was the manager for the Department of Motor Vehicle Secretary of State. John was also in the United States National Guard. John had served on the Putnam County Board and Hennepin Township Supervisor.

He was a member of Hartman Gun Club and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife Nita of Hennepin; two daughters, Rachel Parsons of Granville and Tara (Adam) Perry of Tiskilwa; two brothers, Edward (Jan) O’Neill of Dunlap and Patrick O’Neill of De Kalb; two sisters, Anne (Daniel) Casing of Shorewood and Jane (and the late John) Piccatto of Spring Valley; three grandchildren, Alexander, Bentley and Charles and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Brian.

Contributions may be directed to donor’s choice.

Pallbearers will be Roger Holmes, Harold Hayward, Larry Doyle, Adam Perry, Mike Black and Brian Black.

Service/Memorial Information

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 4, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Hennepin. Fr. Patrick DeMeulemeester will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Hennepin.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Hennepin. There will be an additional visitation 1 hour prior to the service on Friday, August 4, 2017 at the church.
