Richard J. Forney, 92 of Henry died on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Cabin Livin, Hennepin.

Richard was born on August 13, 1925 in Minonk to Roy and Harriet (Robbins) Forney.
He married Bernice Gibbs on February 22, 1948 in the Henry United Methodist Church.
They celebrated 69 years of marriage .

He graduated from Varna Township High School. Richard was a self employed farmer and farmed in 3 counties for 69 years.

He was a member of McNabb United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men, where he held various offices.

Rich was a member of the Mohammad Shrine Temple and playing the trumpet in the Mohammad Brass Band for 26 years. He was a 60 year member of the Henry Masonic Lodge #119. He served on the Marshall-Putnam Oil Company Board. He was President and Director of Magnolia –Mutual Insurance Company. He was a member of the Ottawa Barber Shoppers. He served as Master of the Magnolia Grange and sang in the award winning Magnolia Grange Quartet. Rich served for many years with CROP (Christian Rural Oversees Program).

He and his family were awarded Conservation Farm Family of the Year in 2006.

As a hobby, he liked creating stained glass scenes, including the farm scene over the front door of the Marshall-Putnam Farm Bureau Building in Henry.

Survivors include his wife Bernice of Henry; one son, Larry Richard (Susan) Forney of Spring Valley; three daughters, Nancy (the late Jack) Casey of The Woodlands, TX, Carol (Marty) Keller of McNabb and Kathy (David) Kemp of Dixon; one sister Jeanne Mudry of Franklin Lakes, NJ; eight grandchildren, Chad (Sarah) Keller, Jennifer Forney, Ryan (Chelsea) Casey, Chris (Liz) Keller, Sheena (Andrew) Harrison, Brittany (Logan) Tunget, Brandon Keller and Clayton Kemp; five great-grandchildren, Brayden and Maci Keller, Carter and Kinzley Keller and Lincoln Harrison.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers will be Chad Keller, Ryan Casey, Chris Keller, Brandon Keller, Clayton Kemp, Todd Forney, and Tim Doyle.

Contributions may be made to McNabb United Methodist Church, Marshall Putnam Relay for Life, or Donor’s Choice.

Service/Memorial Information

Service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Henry United Methodist Church, Henry. Rev. John Lee and Rev. Will Meachum will officiate. Burial will be in Henry City Cemetery, Henry.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30.
