Carol Marchiando Obituary

Carol M. Marchiando, 77, longtime resident of Standard, passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020, at her residence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granville with Father Patrick DeMeulemeester officiating. Visitation will be prior to the Mass, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., at the church.

The Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel will be assisting the family with the arrangements.

Carol was born April 11, 1942, to Andrew and Pearl (Halverson) Eikeness. She married Dominic “Nick” Marchiando in October of 1962.

She graduated from Hall High School and continued her education and became an LPN at St. Mary’s Hospital. Once her children went to school, Carol became a lunchroom aid at the Standard Grade School for several years. She then worked at Mennie’s Machine Shop in Granville before she became a special education school bus driver for the Putnam County School District. She finished her career as a cashier at Wal-Mart, where she was employed for over 20 years.

Carol was a very social person around town. Everyone knew her. Christmas was her favorite holiday. She loved to cook, sew and do crafts. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary (James) Terry of Crystal Lake; one daughter-in-law, Lisa (the late Joseph) Marchiando of Spring Valley; two grandchildren, Jenica and Dominique; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; her husband, in 1993; and her son, Joe, in 2015.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the senior center in Standard.

Online condolences can be made to her family at www.dcfunerals.com.
