Benjamin H. Mecum

Benjamin H. Mecum, 83 of McNabb died Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at his residence. Ben was born on January 6, 1931 in Princeton to Benjamin and Ferne Elizabeth (Whipple) Mecum. He was grounds keeper at Fairmont Cemetery in Polo. He was a member of the Tri County Gun Club and he was an avid fisherman. Benjamin is survived by sons; Bobby Crain of Garden City, Ben Mecum Jr. of Mount Morris, John Mecum of Chicago, and Mark (Patty) Mecum of Rock Falls; daughters, Beulah (Randy) Guether of Rock Falls, Karen Reynolds of Granville, Montena (Wayne) Boom of Rock Falls, Mary (Chuck) Taylor of Mark, and Claudia Short of Mount Morris; sister, Bernice Powers of Peoria Heights. Also surviving are seven grandsons, six granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters and one daughter, Kelly (Mecum) Person. Service/Memorial Information

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Dysart - Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville. Pastor Karen Karczewski will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded.
