Betty J. Chasteen

Betty J. Chasteen, 61, of Tonica, IL passed away on Sunday,  March 23, 2025 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

There will be a private service.  Cremation rites have been accorded per her request.

Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel will be assisting the family with the arrangements.

Betty was born on February 15, 1964 in LaSalle to Emal and Hazel (Long) Chasteen. 

She graduated from Mendota High School.  Betty was a waitress for 24 years and worked at the Cedar Point Motel and Restaurant.  She loved cooking for her family.

Survivors include her foster father, Donald Johnson; one son, Aaron (Jennifer) Travis and granddaughter, Tara Travis; one daughter, Trista (Jacob) Summers; four brothers, Danny Chasteen, Dale Chasteen, Tom Chasteen and Billy Chasteen; two sisters, Connie Steinhauer and Pam Travis.  Also surviving are several foster siblings.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emal and Hazel Chasteen; one brother, Albert Chasteen; one sister, Jeanette Chasteen and foster mother, Beverly (Burton) Johnson.
