Brenda C. Lutes

Brenda C Lutes 75 of Morton, Il, formerly Bloomington/Normal, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on December 14, 2024, at 10 am.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel, 208 S. McCoy St. Granville, IL. 

Service will be at 11 a.m. following the visitation at the funeral home.  Pastor Karen Karczewski will officiate.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.  Burial will be at a later date in Magnolia Cemetery, Magnolia.

She was born July 24, 1949, to John and Mabel (Grant) Lovelace in the beautiful hills of Tennessee as she would say. She married Jim Lutes on March 29, 2019 in Bloomington, IL.

Brenda worked at State Farm in Bloomington, Il where she retired. Brenda was also very active in the church and would spread God’s love with her beloved husband and best friend through ministry in the local prisons and jails to reach the hearts of the inmates and turn their hearts to the Lord. She would often joke when asked where she was going or what she was doing and say, “well I’m in jail right now” and get a good laugh. All who knew her knows she could never hurt a fly; she was short and sweet just like she would like this to be.

She is survived by husband James Lutes of Morton, Il formerly Bloomington/Normal, two brothers James (Teresa) Lovelace East Peoria, Il, John (Cindy) Lovelace of Metamora, Il, one son David  Noel of Peoria, IL, two daughters Morrissa Ice-Basham of Bloomington, Il, Monessa (Joe) Ice-Phan of Pekin, Il, three step-daughters Jamie (James) Wise of Loganville, GA, Ashley (Johnathan) Hunt of Buford, GA and Kourtney Lutes Morton, Il , 20 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, cousins. Her family is big, and they will all greatly miss her for now until we meet again, she will be waiting dancing and singing on the streets of heaven.  

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents Mabel Van Doren, Cliff Van Doren and John Lovelace Sr. and one infant son.
