Carmel "Carmi" M. Bassi

Carmi Bassi, 89, of Granville, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2012 at St. Margaret's Hospital, Spring Valley. Carmi was born on October 14, 1923 in Spring Valley to Angelo and Carmela (Vivarelli) Iattoni. She married James Bassi on August 31, 1946 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, in Ladd. She was a retired postal clerk and was employed by the US Postal Service in Granville. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granville, and a past member of the Altar and Rosary Society and Key's Club. Survivors are two daughters, Karen (Roy) Wasielewski of LaSalle and Carol Delgado of Naperville; three sons, Jerry (Linda) Bassi of Eureka, Robert (Diane) Bassi of Franklin, and Richard (Andrea) Bassi of Mokena; nine grandchildren, Connie Wasielewski, Jennifer Wasielewski, Jessica (Neal) McAllister, Matthew (Olivia) Bassi, Janaye Delgado, Angela Bassi, Nick Delgado, Paige Bassi, and Gianna Delgado and sister-in-laws, Tresa Dove and Viola Iattoni. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, and three brothers, Joe, Bruno and Rico, Contributions may be directed to donor's choice. Pallbearers will be David Thompson, Chuck Loebach, Charlie Russ, Jon Marcacci, Neal McAllister and Matthew Bassi. Honorary pallbearers will be Connie Wasielewski, Jennifer Wasielewski, Jessica McAllister, Janaye Delgado, Angela Bassi, Nick Delgado, Paige Bassi and Gianna Delgado.

Service/Memorial Information

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Granville. Prayers will be at 10 a.m. at Dysart - Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville. Fr. Duane Leclercq will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Granville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 2012 at Dysart - Cofoid Funeral Chapel Granville. Rosary will be at 7:45 p.m.
