Charles Warner Witzman, 73, moved on to his eternal home with Christ on March 28, 2026. As a man of God, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, he shared God’s grace and love with all he met.
He was born on July 7, 1952 in Cairo, IL to Warner and Dessie Witzman and was raised in rural Olmsted, IL on the family farm.
He married Valerie Schallhorn on June 23, 1979 in Van Orin, IL. They settled in Mt. Palatine, IL and raised their three children, Joshua, Katie, Jonathan.
Charlie worked on the family farm until 1988 and as a Local 60 Boilermaker for 36 years, retiring in 2010.
He and Valerie spent retirement living life to its fullest, gardening, landscaping, traveling, and spending time with family. Charlie also enjoyed duck hunting and fishing the Illinois River and local ponds, many of those days spent with his grandson and fishing buddy, Z.
He was gentle and kind, always ready to help others. He never met a stranger and had many friends throughout the area from his time in the trades and many years fishing, duck hunting, and attending churches in Lacon, Princeton, Granville, Utica, LaSalle and Peru with Valerie.
He is survived by his wife Valerie, daughter Katie, sons, Jonathan (Kylie) and Joshua (Amy), five grandsons Hunter, Parker, Zachariah, Kade and Drake, and his fur buddy, Maggie. He is also survived by two sisters, Kimberly Triplett of Paducah, KY and Lisa (Kevin) Ulrich of Grand Chain, IL and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Allen and his granddaughter Harper.
