Charles "Chuck" Doyle Obituary

Charles “Chuck” E. Doyle, 96 of Standard passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at St. Margaret’s Hospital, Spring Valley.

The family will be honoring his request, that there be no services. 

Cremation rites have been accorded.

Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel will be assisting the family with the arrangements.

Charles was born on January 11, 1924 in Lovington, IL to Bernard and Elsie (Diding) Doyle. They moved to Standard when Chuck was four years old, which was his mom’s home town.  He married his best friend Barbara Jean “Jeanie” Kallner on May 28, 1983.

Chuck worked at M & H Zinc Company. He worked construction and was the foreman on the I-80 Bridge.  He also worked construction developing the J & L Steel plant in Hennepin.  Chuck worked at Western Sand & Gravel as a heavy machine operator.  His last job was working as the caretaker at Walter Duncan Residence in LaSalle where he worked for over 40 years. 

He was a member of the Putnam County Historical Society.  Chuck was an avid Bocce Ball player and follower.  He played in many bocce ball tournaments and in 1996 won the tournament in Springfield.  He also received a gold medal for 1st place in the amateur boxing competition.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Jean Doyle of Standard; two sons, Randy Gielow of Peru and Ken (Mischelle) Gielow of Magnolia; one daughter, Lynn (Rick) Camatti of Standard; one sister-in-law, Elaine Klimek of Brookfield, Wisc.; two grandsons, Kyle and Ryan Camatti which he enjoyed teaching them many life skills, including digging, concrete work and teaching them how to drive a vehicle. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and his dog and best friend, Susie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Bernard Doyle, James Doyle, Donald Doyle and Richard Doyle; four sisters, Betty Koehler, Dorothy Camatti, Beverly “Boo” Camatti and Grace Doyle; one sister-in-law, Jacqueline Johns.
