Charlie W. Jones

Charles W. Jones, 79, of Granville passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022 at St. Margaret’s Hospital, Spring Valley.

Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville.  Rev. Karen Karczewski will officiate.  Burial will be Granville Cemetery, Granville.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Charlie was born on January 30, 1943 in Spring Valley to William T. and June O. (Webster) Jones.  He married Sharon Lindsey on February 13, 1965 in McNabb.

Charlie retired in September 2001 from IDOT.

Charlie enjoyed his 1948 Ford red convertible that he has had since age 15, he restored the car and was previously a member of Blood Sweat & Gears car club.  Charlie loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than anything.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Jones of Granville; one son, David Jones of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one daughter, Debbie (Scott) Kierski of Granville; four grandchildren, Allyssa (Shawn) Sabotta, Devin Kierski (fiancé Kaylee Ploch), Kayla Jones and Charlie Jones; six great-grandchildren, Collin, Colton, Jade, Brayden, Gabriel and Bailey; one brother, Kenneth Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Roger Eggers and best friend, Jerry Young.

Pallbearers will be Scott Kierski, Devin Kierski, Shawn Sabotta, Collin Borio, Charlie Jones, Jim Keen and Gary Bruno.  Honorary pallbearers will be Colton Sabotta and Brayden Kierski.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or St. Jude.
