Obituary

Charlotte Mudge, 95, Metamora (formerly of Germantown Hills), passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Snyder Village Health Center in Metamora.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 10, 2022 in Granville Cemetery, Granville. Chaplain Kent Terry will officiate. Burial will be in Granville Cemetery.

Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel will be assisting the family with the arrangements.

Charlotte was born on September 29, 1927 in Chicago, IL to John Harold and Gladys (Mobeck) Lund. Her early childhood years were spent living in Chicago during the Great Depression, where her family shared their small home with many other relatives out of necessity. Over the years, she and her siblings reminisced fondly about how much fun it was as children to have a house full of cousins to play with on a daily basis.

Eventually, Charlotte’s family moved to a dairy farm in the Granville area where she spent the remainder of her childhood/teen years and graduated from Hopkins High School in 1945.

Charlotte married Charles (Chuck) Mudge IV of Cedar Point at the First Lutheran Church in Granville on June 19, 1949. They spent many years farming and raising their children in the Hennepin, McNabb, and Magnolia area. When they later moved to the Washington and Germantown Hills area, Charlotte continued her education at Illinois Central College in East Peoria and became self employed providing alternative health care. As their family expanded to include grandchildren, she enjoyed having the grandkids take turns spending a weekend having fun at “Far Hills Grandma’s” house during their younger years, and attending their school concerts and sports activities as they got older.

Survivors include three daughters, Carol (Terry) Smith of Secor, Debra Davis of Metamora and Etta Mudge of Chillicothe; one sister Elgene Martin of East Peoria; 8 grandchildren, and a growing number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Chuck, her sons Barry and Alan, and one brother, Richard.
