Donald Edward Loesch

Donald Edward Loesch, 89, of McNabb, died on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Donald was born on July 8, 1923 in Spring Valley to Edward Anton and Kathryn (Katherine Moews) Loesch. His first wife was Patricia Sutherland. They were married at The Friends Meeting House, McNabb, on May 5th, 1946. She died at home in Dunlap, on August 13th, 1978. His second marriage was to Bernice Nelson Pletsch. They were married at Emmaus Lutheran Church, McNabb, on February 23, 1986. She survives. He was a World War II veteran, who served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946, ending with the rank of Sergeant. He went on to graduate from the University of Illinois, with a degree in accounting. His career was spent with Caterpillar. He was the Head Accountant at the Mossville Basic Engine Plant, Plant Comptroller at San Leandro, and Head of Medical Benefits Overseas based out of Peoria. He was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church in McNabb, McNabb American Legion, and many other service and charitable organizations wherever he lived. He spent most of his life in the Dunlap and McNabb areas. He enjoyed golfing, tennis, and bowling. Winters were spent in Fort Meyers, Florida. Summer vacation was spent in Frankfort and Beulah, Michigan with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His presence will be greatly missed by all the lives he touched. He is survived by his wife Bernice Loesch of McNabb, one son, John Loesch of Mossville; two daughters Lizabeth Stratton Higgins of Springfield and Jude (Scott) Clapper of Springfield; nine grandchildren, Casey, Stephen and Jenny Stratton, Drew Clapper, Nicole Shelton, Katie Ehnle, Michelle Loesch, Bill and Jennie Pletsch and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Contributions may be directed to Emmaus Lutheran Church in McNabb.

Service/Memorial Information

Service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 13, 2012 at Emmaus Lutheran Church, McNabb. Pastor Ann Ziegert will officiate. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, McNabb, with full military rites. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Dysart - Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville.
