Donald L. "Don" Troglio, 81, of Mark died Friday, January 2, 2015 at Northwestern Hospital, Chicago. Don was born on November 21, 1933 in Mark to Peter and Violet (Calzia) Troglio. He married Angeline Brejc on June 22, 1957 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Peru. He attended Mark Grade School and graduated from Hopkins High School in 1951. Don was drafted into the United States Army in 1953 and discharged in 1955. Don worked at Westclox in the drafting room as a machine designer, advancing to Head of Automation Design for Talley Industries. He retired from Mennie's Machine as Head Engineer. While at Mennie's he, John Mennie and Larry Zielinski designed a method for diversity packaging and were awarded a patent for the method and machine. Don was active in the community, volunteering whenever asked. He was the Clerk for Granville Township Board, a member of Sacred Heart Holy Name Society, American Legion Post #180, a founding member and Treasurer of Putnam County Ambulance Service, a volunteer with the Mark Fire Department, and was the driving force to secure the helicopter and complete the Veteran's Memorial in time for Mark's centennial celebration. As a member of Woodcrafters Unlimited, he designed a template and helped make over 2000 sets of Braille blocks for the Hadley School for the Blind. Don is survived by his wife, Angeline; two sons, Donald (Rose Folger) Troglio, and Kevin (Sandy) Troglio; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Rob) Spratt, Gwen (Joe) King, and Daniel (Holly) Troglio; five great-grandchildren, Margaret and Dylan Spratt, Eli and Sean King and Ava Troglio; one brother, James (Patricia) Troglio; one sister Rita (Gerald) Studzinski; brother and sister-in-law, Doug (Lois) Swanson, brother-in-law Don Ragogna, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Violet Troglio, sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn (Louis) Miroux, and sister-in-law, Mary Ragogna. In lieu of flowers contributions may be directed to Putnam County Community Center or the Donor's choice. Service/Memorial Information
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Fr. Patrick DeMeulemeester will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by members of Granville American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, with the Rosary recited at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville, with additional visitation from 9:30 to 10:00 am on Wednesday.
