Duane H. Carr

Duane H. Carr, 81, of McNabb passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 in Lacon.

Per his request a family service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel. Burial was in Friends Cemetery in McNabb with full military honors.

Duane was born on August 28, 1942 in Streator to Harold and Charolette (Alhouse) Carr.  He married Linda Baker on January 1, 1987 in Walker, LA.

He graduated from John Swaney High School.  Duane served in the United States Army in the military police from 1964 to 1966 in Germany.  He was a truck driver for Sun Ag until he retired. 

He was a member of the McNabb – Magnolia American Legion Post 254.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Carr of McNabb; one son, Brett (Dan) Carr; three daughters, Tracy Schlinger, Nicole (Jeff) Zellmer and Angela (Steve) Halbleib; one brother, Larry (Kathy) Carr; two sisters, Beth Mabis and Sandra Peeples; eight grandchildren, Brandi Wong, Madison Furr, Grant Halbleib, Trevor Zellmer, Mallory Schlinger, Paxton Zellmer, Evan Halbleib and Taylor Schlinger and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Putnam County Community Center or Putnam County Ambulance.

Pallbearers will be Trevor Zellmer, Evan Halbleib, Shane Carr, Shawn Carr, Oscar Wong and Alex Wong.  Honorary Pallbearer will be Grant Halbleib.
