Edith Mae Mecum

Edith Mae Mecum, 82, of Granville died Thursday, June 12. 2014 at St. Margaret's Hospital, Spring Valley, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Mecum was born on May 23, 1932 in Horse Cave, Kentucky to Robert & Beulah (Hornback) Edwards. Edith was a loving mother and grandma. She loved her family. Edith loved the elderly, she worked at Dixon Health Care Center in Dixon and after retiring she moved to Granville where she worked for project NOA to help people. Edith is survived by four sons; Bobby Crain of Garden City, Ben Mecum Jr. of Mount Morris, John Mecum of Chicago, and Mark (Patty) Mecum of Rock Falls; six daughters, Beulah (Randy) Guether of Rock Falls, Karen Reynolds of Granville, Montena (Wayne) Boom of Rock Falls, Robin (James) Turner of Mount Morris, Mary (Chuck) Taylor of Mark, and Claudia Short of Mount Morris. Also surviving are six grandsons, seven granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Kelly (Mecum) Person and one brother and three sisters. Service/Memorial Information

Service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 16, 2014 at Dysart - Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville. Pastor Karen Karczewski will officiate. Burial will be in Granville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday, June 16, at Dysart - Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville.
