Edna L. Struthers

Edna L. Struthers, 79, of Granville passed away on August 16, 2021 at St. Margaret’s Hospital, Spring Valley with her loving family by her side.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Granville.  Fr. Patrick DeMeulemeester will officiate.  Burial will be at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, Spring Valley.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville. 

Additional visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Granville.

Edna was born on February 21, 1942 in Chicago to Harvey T. and Rose M. (Burgoni) Peart.  She married Robert Struthers on June 23, 1962 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Ladd.

Edna graduated from Hall High School in the class of 1960 and then attended Beauty College prior to starting her career as a bank teller at Spring Valley City Bank. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and the Stitches group at her church.  Edna also belonged to the Nine Patch Quilt Guild in Oglesby.

She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Struthers of Granville; two sons, Robert J. (Beth) Struthers of Granville and Greg A. (Mark Bassett) Struthers of West Chicago; one daughter, Julie A. (Ken) Hahn of Germantown Hills; four grandchildren, Alexandra Jurgens, Adam Hahn, Heather Ricker and Benjamin Hahn.  She is also survived by her dog, Maddy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Esther Safranske and one brother, Clifford Peart.
