Edward "Ed" H. Boers, 96, of Peru formerly of McNabb passed away on Monday, February 11, 2013 at Manor Court, Peru. Ed was born on April 3, 1916 in Tonica to Edward and Matilda (Ehlbech) Boers. He married Ruth Keilty on January 15, 1939 in Peru. Ed had a passion for farming and agriculture and he spent his life's work doing what he loved. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church (County Line Church), Peru and the Marshall - Putnam Farm Bureau. Survivors are his wife, Ruth of Peru; one daughter, Lynn (John) Shimkus of Granville; two brothers, Robert (Dorothy) Boers of Peru and Leslie Boers of Peru; three grandchildren, Tim (Missy) Schlosser, Dan (Julie) Schlosser and Stephanie (Steve) Lieb; three step grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, Nathan Schlosser, Kailey Schlosser, Kye Schlosser, Kenzie Schlosser, Lexi Lieb and Cody Lieb and four step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Contributions may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church, McNabb Ambulance or McNabb Fire Department. Pallbearers will be Tim Schlosser, Dan Schlosser, Nathan Schlosser, Kye Schlosser, Steve Lieb and Roger Pletsch. Honorary pallbearers will be Burdette Boers, Jack Kraft and Phil Hopkins.
Service/Memorial Information
Service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Dysart - Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville. Rev. Roger Helgren will officiate. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, McNabb. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Dysart - Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville. There will be an additional visitation on Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Dysart - Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville.
