Emma Jo O’Connor, 89, of Hennepin passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at OSF Health Care, Peoria.
Service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville. Pastor Phil Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery, Hennepin.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2022 at Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville.
Emma was born on August 15, 1933 in Hennepin to Clarence and Mildred (Loy) Stewartson. She married her childhood sweetheart, Pierce David “Dave” O’Connor on July 26, 1952 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Hennepin. Emma was a lifetime resident of Hennepin.
She graduated from Hennepin High School. Emma was a homemaker and was also an assistant rural mail carrier.
She was a member of the Hennepin United Methodist Church, Hennepin. Emma looked forward to instructing the adult swimming aerobics classes at the Hennepin pool. She enjoyed gardening. She loved to go with her husband to garage sales where they would find many treasures together. Emma and Dave loved going to Ireland and took several vacations there. But most of all she cherished her family.
Survivors include two sons, Mike (Nancy) O’Connor of Hennepin and Tom (Susan) O’ Connor of Plano, Texas; six grandchildren, Amy (Todd) Heer, Pete (Brandi) O’Connor, Chad (Lisa) Errio, Karie (Dan) Rosolowski, Jarrod (Claire) O’Connor and Victoria Errio; nine great-grandchildren, Emma, Kaleb, Ellyse, Andrew, Thomas, Jayden, Mason, Gianna and Dominic; one great-great granddaughter, Sofia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dave on July 6, 2014 and one sister, Meriam.
Contributions may be made to the Hennepin Pool in her memory.
Pallbearers will be Pete O’Connor, Dan Rosolowski, Chad Errio, Jarrod O’Connor, Todd Heer, Dominic Pinter and Kaleb Heer.
