Ervin Redshaw Obituary

Ervin Lyle Redshaw, 91, of Granville passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at St. Margarets Hospital, Spring Valley.

There will be a private family service at Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel.  Doug Clinton will officiate.  Burial will be in Granville Cemetery.

Ervin was born on December 6, 1927 in Granville to Ervin and Lena (Burris) Redshaw.  He married Margaret Edith Porschke on February 9, 1949 at the Granville First Lutheran Church.

He graduated from Hopkins High School.  Ervin served in the United States Army in World War II.  After returning from military service, Ervin managed Alexander Lumber Company in Granville.  He was an electrician and worked for Illinois Power Company.

Ervin was a member of the Granville American Legion and Granville Masonic Lodge #1093.

He loved being outdoors and he had a passion for hunting and fishing.  

Survivors include two sons, John (Debbie) Redshaw of Hennepin and Lyle (Penny) Redshaw of Hennepin; four daughters, Nancy (Marshall) Van de Wyngaerde of LaSalle, Sharon Redshaw of Ft. Collins, CO, Merri (John) Ideler of Glen Ellyn and Jeanette Redshaw of Canton; one sister, Hazel Giering of Pendleton, Indiana and 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margaret on July 26, 2016; two children, Joseph and Jeannie; one brother, John; and one sister, Marjorie.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons Marshall Van de Wyngaerde, Jeremy Van de Wyngaerde, Brandon Redshaw, Patrick Griffith, Chase Redshaw, Mark Ideler and Matthew Ideler.
