Gerald “Harp” Adam Lenkaitis, 81, of Granville, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday August 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Mass of Christian burial will be Monday August 25th at 10:30 am in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granville. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Granville with military honors.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 24th from 4 – 7 pm in the Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Home in Granville. Additional visitation will be Monday, August 25th from 9 am until the time of Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Harp was born on December 12, 1943, in Spring Valley, Illinois, to Adam and Anna (Sienza) Lenkaitis. He graduated from Hopkins High School in Mark, Illinois, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a maintenance engineer while stationed at Fort Greely, Alaska.
Following his service, Harp was a teamster and a mechanic for several companies before retiring from John Pohar & Sons in 2002. In retirement, he enjoyed more time pursuing his many passions, including hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, mushroom hunting, and scrapping. Known for his generosity and resourcefulness, Harp was always willing to lend a hand and had a remarkable ability to fix just about anything. If you needed something—he had it.
On December 7, 1968, Harp married the love of his life, Kathleen Widman, at Sacred Heart Church in Granville. Together they raised two sons and shared countless adventures throughout their 56 years of marriage.
Harp is survived by his wife, Kathy; his sons, Scott (Cathy Pohar) Lenkaitis and Jason (Tanya Coleman) Lenkaitis; and his grandchildren, Ty (Kaitlyn), Adam, Alex, and Taylor Lenkaitis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Anna Lenkaitis.
Memorials may be directed to the Putnam County Food Pantry or the LaSalle Veterans’ Home.
