Gerald “Jerry” T. Jones, 85, of Peru, IL (formerly of Davenport, IA) passed away peacefully at his home while in hospice care for his cancer that he has had since 2018. Cremation rites have been accorded with a private family service to take place at a later date. Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville will be assisting the family with the arrangements.
Jerry was born on September 29, 1939 to James R. Jones and Delores (Schroeder) Jones McKee in Davenport, Iowa. He graduated from Davenport High School in 1958.
Jerry loved his kids and extended family. He loved telling stories of himself and his siblings growing up. He also bowled, hunted, fished and enjoyed his 1972 Harley. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and he loved his Iowa Hawkeye’s. Jerry was always an Iowan.
Work was also his best hobby, he loved every minute of his career. He loved the travel and the people he met on his job sites.
Jerry was a pipefitter and a member of Local 387 in Davenport, IA and a member of Local 25 of Rock Island, IL. This led him to TKS Industry and Durr Industries where he was a construction Superintendent/Piping Supervisor for the automotive industry where he installed paint finishing departments for Ford, General Motors, Boeing, Harley Davidson and many others in the United States, Canada and Mexico. He made lifelong friends on his jobs and loved the travel.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene of 32 years of Peru; son, Brad Jones; grandson, Dalton Jones; son-in-law, Mike Kiem; brother, Ron “Squeek” (Kathy) Jones; sister, Vicki (Steven) Schneider all of Davenport, IA. Many nieces and nephews all who he was proud of and loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Delores; step-father Dutch McKee; his son, Curtis; daughter, Stacey; brothers, Robert, Dennis, Richard, Steven and Melvin Jones; sister, Patsy Welzenbach; sister-in-law, Sandy Jones; brothers-in-law, Mike Ball, Charles Raymond Dean; Charles Brian Dean; father- in-law, Charles Dean Sr.
