Ila L. Weddell, 82, of Hennepin, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Aperion Care in Princeton with her loving family by her side.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Dysart –Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville. Her son-in-law Robert Fecht will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Hennepin.
Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Face masks will be strongly encouraged.
Ila was born on November 17, 1939 in Spring Valley to Walter W. and Rebecca (Hansen) Colby. She married Darrell D. Weddell on August 1, 1964.
She graduated from Hennepin Township High School in 1957. Ila worked for the Putnam County Record, at the Putnam County Bank and was later the bookkeeper for the Putnam County Highway Department.
Ila was a life-long member of the Hennepin United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school and was a Brownie leader when her girls were young. She was also a member of the Lions Club and the Hennepin Junior Women’s Club. Ila was on a “Relay for Life” team for many years and was honored as Hennepin’s Citizen of the Year in 2006.
Survivors include three daughters, Deanna (Robert) Fecht of Toluca, Whitney Weddell of Bourbonnais and Lindsay (Rich) Cattani of Hennepin; one brother, Ron Colby of Spring Valley; four grandchildren, Joseph Fecht, Katherine (Kyler) Frieders, Jacob Cattani and Kara (Brett) Bault; and several nieces and nephews.
Ila was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother, Bradley Colby.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Fecht, Kyler Frieders, Brett Bault, Nathan Tonarelli, Craig Colby, Craig Jessen, Robert Fecht and Rich Cattani.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hennepin United Methodist Church or donor’s choice.
