Jacob Edward Baele, 42, of Mt. Palatine died on April 17, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Jake was born on June 7, 1972 in Kewanee. Jake's parents are Jim and Margie (Hughes) Wegrzyn . He married Brandy Hansen on June 17, 2003. He graduated in 1990 from Putnam County High School. Jake also attended IVCC where he received two associate degrees, one was in agriculture/business and the other one was in diesel mechanics. Jake was a union ironworker for 21 years for Local 386/444. He was proud of the work he did, especially constructing the windmills. He volunteered for many years for the McNabb Ambulance and McNabb Fire Department, where he was Fire Chief. Jake enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, helping others, but above all participating in his son's activities, such as Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Jake's devotion and love for his family, especially his boys, is truly a tribute to his character. He will not only be missed by his family, but by all who had the privilege to know him. Survivors are his wife, Brandy; two sons, Ryan and Jimmy, both at home; his parents, Jim and Margie Wegrzyn; two sisters, Kandy (Tim) Cockerill and Kerry (Darren) Merrell; his grandmother, Marjorie Hughes; ten nieces and nephews, Kayla, Brittany, Riley, Haleigh, Devin, Amanda, Carrie, Jacob, Jarrett, and Hunter; four great-nieces and nephews, Dunn Timothy, Mya, Aria, and Aiden. Contributions may be directed to a college fund that has been set up for his sons at McNabb First State Bank. Pallbearers will be Jeff Zellmer, Sam Abraham, Chuck Hansen, Tim Cockerill, Darren Merrell, and Ray Kubberness. Honorary pallbearers will be Riley Cockerill and Devin Merrell.
Service/Memorial Information
Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Emmaus Lutheran Church, McNabb. Pastor Ann Ziegert will officiate the service. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, McNabb. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Dysart - Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville. Emergency Personnel Ceremony/Walkthrough will be 6:30 p.m. Line up at 6 p.m.
