James Fenwick Obituary

James L. Fenwick, 75, of Hennepin, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Bloomington with his family by his side after an extensive battle with cancer.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville.

Service will be at 11:00 a.m. following the visitation at the funeral home.  Pastor Phil Jackson and Pastor Jodi Tonarelli will officiate.  Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, in Hennepin with military honors.

James was born on September 2, 1948 in Spring Valley to William and Anna (Morris) Fenwick.  He married Betty (Hall) Tonarelli on October 18, 2008 in Hennepin.

After graduating from high school he served the United States Army from February 1971 to February 1973.

James was a heavy equipment operator for Local 150 Operators Union.  He was a farm hand, helping his Dad, a mechanic, a truck driver and owned his own truck for many years.  He worked for multiple companies including Zellmer Truck Lines.  He retired from Local 150 Operators. 

He was in the local coffee clutch group.  He enjoyed woodworking, and all work related jobs that kept him busy.  He traveled and took numerous trips with his wife, Betty.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren and was loving known as “Grandpa Jim”.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Tonarelli of Hennepin; two sons, Brian (Lisa) Fenwick of Sublette and Nathan (Jodi) Tonarelli of WI; two daughters, Tricia Tonarelli of LaSalle and Kelli Fenwick of Las Vegas: eight grandchildren, Faith Fenwick, Kilah Helm, Kensley Helm, Brison Fenwick, Keagan Fenwick, Kamryn Fenwick, Isaac Tonarelli and Madeline Tonarelli.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William “Bill” Fenwick.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Putnam County Food Pantry or Donor’s Choice.

Pallbearers will be Brian Fenwick, Tricia Tonarelli, John Ator, Ray Verda, Randy Kierski and Gene Dixon.
