James Moriarty, 87, of Mark died on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at St. Margaret’s Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 19, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Granville. Fr. Ronald Margherio will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 18, 2021 at Dysart - Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville. Additional visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 19, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Granville.
Jim was born on March 22, 1934 in LaSalle to James F. and Goldie (Chiesi) Moriarty. He married Adeline Verda on May 15, 1954 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granville.
He attended Hopkins High School and worked at BFGoodrich Chemical Company where he was a Coal Fire Boiler Operator before retiring in 1993. He was also Granville Township Supervisor for many years and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Jim enjoyed family and friends fishing trips every year along with being an avid Cubs fan and a big supporter of all Putnam County Sporting events, especially boy’s basketball.
Jim was an extremely proud grandparent and loved being involved in all aspects of his grandchildren’s lives.
Survivors include one son, James A. (Mary Jo) Moriarty of Peru; two daughters, Sheila Moriarty of St. Charles and Kelly (Billy) Ossola of Granville; six grandchildren, Michele, James M., Christine Moriarty, Courtney, Jaclyn and Abby Ossola; four brothers, Ron “Puta” Moriarty of Mark, Ray “Duke” (Sue) Moriarty of Granville, Don “Skinner” (Judy) Moriarty and Jack (Charlotte) Moriarty of LaSalle and one sister, Kathleen “Tootsie” Kline of Granville
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Adeline Moriarty in 2017, one sister, Carrie Lynn and brother, Kenneth.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be directed to Putnam County Community Center, Standard, Putnam County Athletic Boosters or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Pallbearers will be Ron “Puta” Moriarty, Ray “Duke” Moriarty, Don “Skinner” Moriarty, Jack Moriarty, James M. Moriarty and Billy Ossola, Roger Doyle and Doug Henkel.
