Jennie Balestri

Jennie Balestri, 95, of Liberty Village Manor Court, Peru (formerly of Hennepin) died on Friday, June 27, 2014. Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel will be assisting the family with the arrangements. Jennie was born on January 25, 1919 in Mark to Joseph and Bernardina (Verucchi) Leoni. She married Fred Balestri on September 17, 1938 in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Hennepin. She was a housewife and was known throughout the area for her Italian cooking and her beautiful petunias. She also made the best strawberry pies to donate to any function that needed a pie. She lived most of her life in Putnam County. Jennie was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and a past member of the Altar & Rosary Society. She was also a life-time member of the Putnam County Historical Society. Surviving are many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred on December 8, 1995, four sisters and three brothers. Contributions may be directed to Liberty Village, Peru or the donor's choice. Service/Memorial Information

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Hennepin. Fr. Patrick DeMeulemeester will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Granville. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Hennepin.
