John Ossola, 82, of Mark passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at St. Margaret's Hospital, Spring Valley.
Graveside Service will be held at a later date with full military honors. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Dysart - Cofoid Funeral Chapel will be assisting the family with the arrangements.
John was born on May 4, 1940 in Spring Valley to Joseph and Constance (Pilipaitis) Ossola.
He graduated from LaSalle Peru High School and continued his education at IVCC. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1960 to 1963 in Korea.
He worked at J.W. Ossola Co. Inc in Granville until he retired. John was a truck driver and a member of the Teamsters Union.
John was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Marine Corps League and the American Legion Post #180. He was entered into the IVCC-LPO Hall of Fame 1958-1959 basketball team.
Survivors include, June (Vulcani) Dempsey of Mark; one son, Jon Ossola; two step-sons, Joel Sartin and Jason Sartin; three daughters, Julie, Wendy and Jennifer; one step-daughter, Janeen Welsh; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Margaret Evans.
