John Stash Obituary

John Stash 51 of 157 Cleveland Circle Granville, IL went on to have eternal life with the Lord. He passed away at 12:25 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2012 in his home after fighting a horrifying courageous battle of cancer surrounded by family and friends. John's body was donated to the Biological Resource Center of Illinois LLC in Chicago. His ashes will be buried in the Biological Resource Memorial Garden in Elmhurst with his name honored on the memorial garden's wall at a later date. John was born on September 8, 1960 in Streator, IL to Ronald Stash and Shirley (Hankins) Stash. He married Raene' Grigalunas on November 7, 1981 in her parent's home. He was a member of New Life Community Church in Henry, IL in which he served as an avid worship leader and stayed active in VMTC prayer ministries until cancer took over his life. He truly lived his life for Christ and reached out to others touching many lives. A true man of faith. John had a love for Christ and wanted to share that love with everyone he met. He will be greatly missed and be remembered as a true believer of God, a devoted Christian. He attended Henry Senachwine High School. He worked all of his life until he was diagnosed with cancer 12 years ago in January 2000. He was a machinist at National Metalwares Inc in LaSalle, IL and his last place of employment was Dauber Company in Tonica, IL. He liked watching Cubs baseball and the Chicago Bears. He was a keen hunter and fisherman. He loved his wife very much and was a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 30 years Raene' Stash of Granville, IL; two daughters, Alisha (Stash) Davis of Hennepin, IL and Beth Stash of Mackinaw, IL; one son, Joshua Stash of Spring Valle, IL; three grandchildren, Sommer, Amelia, and Zenobia; father-in-law John Grigalunas and mother-in-law, Helen Grigalunas of Spring Valley, IL; mother, Shirley Stash of Henry, IL; father, Ronald Stash of Streator, IL; step-mother Carol Stash of Streator, IL; three brothers, Robert (Natalie) Stash of Pekin, IL, Toby Stash of Henry, IL, Jaime Stash of Springfield, IL; three sister, Rhonda Brown of Hennepin, IL, Susan King of Goreville, IL and Lori Novotney of Leonore, IL. Also many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Special Oncologists, Dr. Todd Zimmerman, Vickey Frazier in chemo room and special nurses on the 6th floor of the University of Chicago Hospital. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, a granddaughter, McKenzie, three nephews, a brother-in-law, Wayne Brown, aunts and uncles. In lieu of flowers donations may be directed to the family.

Service/Memorial Information

Greeting the family will start at 2:30 p.m. until time of service. A celebration of his life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at New Life Community Church 1400 Indian Town Road, Henry, IL, with Pastor Tom Schrock and assistant pastor Ken Colwell officiating. Dress Casual and Bring Lawn Chairs...........
