Karen Sue Rennels, 53, of Granville, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her family. Karen was born on January 19, 1961 in Olney, IL to Lee and Dona (Eagleton) Watkins. She married David Rennels on January 18, 1992 in Noble, IL. She was a teacher's aide at the Putnam County Elementary School in Hennepin. She received her associates in accounting and was attending Western Governor's University for her teaching degree. Karen loved spending time with her family, traveling and visiting historical sites. She enjoyed working with the students at Putnam County Elementary School which inspired her to work towards her teaching degree. Surviving are her parents, Lee and Dona Watkins of Noble, IL; her husband, David Rennels of Granville; one son, Nathan Rennels of Granville; two brothers, Steve (Bonnie) Watkins of Dieterich , IL and Wayne (Angie) Watkins of Hoffman, IL; and two sisters Janice (Brad) Strayer of Ramona, CA and Brenda Watkins of Carbondale, IL. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents. Service/Memorial Information
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2014, at Dysart - Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville. There will be an additional visitation from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, prior to the service at Shooting Park Road Baptist Church, Peru. Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Shooting Park Road Baptist Church, Peru. Pastor Gary McKee will officiate. Memorial Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2014 in Glenwood Church, Noble, IL with a visitation from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
