Kathryn Louise (Beard) Bruhl

Kathryn Bruhl of Varna, Illinois passed away peacefully in her home on September 12, 2024 at the age of 85. Kathryn was a beloved wife, devoted mother, sister, and a friend to all. She was known for her selfless love, resourcefulness, and incredible work ethic.

Kathryn was born on August 11, 1939 in Spring Valley, Illinois. She was the daughter of Frank and Bessie Mae Beard, and grew up on a small farm near McNabb, Illinois with her two sisters Rita Jeppson (Lloyd) and Ruth Bussean (Edward). Kathryn graduated from John Swaney High School in 1957 and went on to attend Browns Business College in Peoria. In 1960, she met and married Edwin Bruhl and they started their long journey together which spanned 64 years of marriage.  Kathryn held many titles throughout her life, and she most enjoyed and treasured being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Kathryn is survived by her husband, her sisters Rita Jeppson and Ruth Bussean, and her six children: Douglas Bruhl (Brenda) of Port Charlotte, Florida, Jeffrey Bruhl (Judy) of Dana, Jay Bruhl (Dawn) of Papillion, Nebraska, Gregory Bruhl (Donna) of Leroy, Brenda Roth (Marv) of Bloomington, and Edwin Bruhl Jr. of Varna.  She was blessed with the joy of eight grandchildren: David, Katie, Michael, Sarah, Bradley, Laura Bruhl and Brandon and Marin Roth. Kathryn also celebrated two great grandchildren, Jake and Aubrie Bruhl.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, David.

Visitation is scheduled from 12 p.m. (Noon) on Friday, September 20, 2024 at Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel 208 S. McCoy Street, Granville Illinois, with a memorial service to follow at 1 p.m. in the Chapel.  Pastor Karen Karczewski will officiate.  Burial will be at the Henry City Cemetery in Henry, Illinois.
