Kimrey Alleman Obituary

Kimrey Darrell “Kim” Alleman passed away Friday, January 3, 2025 at Country Comfort Home in Henry, IL. He was 70 years old.

Kim was born January 15, 1954 in Spring Valley, IL, son of Darrell and Jeanne (Anderson) Alleman.

He graduated from John Swaney Junior High School in 1968 and Putnam County High School in 1972. He earned both a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Agricultural Education from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He farmed his entire life and was a teacher at Henry High School before his employment with the Illinois Department of Human Services where he worked to help local families, eventually becoming the director.

Kim enjoyed numerous activities throughout his life. He was a member of Farm House Fraternity while on the University of Illinois campus and later became a member of the University of Illinois Alumni Association. He was a member of the Putnam County Central Republican Committee serving in leadership positions including chairman. For many years, Kim was a member of the Magnolia Cemetery Board and served as treasurer.

Kim enjoyed athletics. During high school, he was a member of several Putnam County Panther athletic teams culminating with his 1972 baseball team making it to the Elite 8 in the IHSA Baseball State tournament. After high school, he was a member of the Magnolia Four Corners Tug of War team which won a state championship. Kim participated in Marshall-Putnam County Fair’s Demolition Derby several years.

Survivors include his children Benjamin Alleman of Granville, IL and Roxanna (husband Aaron) Anderson of Gladstone, Michigan, brother Scott (wife Dianne) Alleman of Granville, IL, sisters Debbie (husband Dennis) Kimme of Mahomet, IL and Jan (husband J.R.) Chance of McClure, IL. Also surviving are his 5 grandchildren, Keegen Taylor, Liam Alleman,Ezekiel, Ariah, and Elin Anderson and 2 great-grandchildren, Vivienne and Vermilia Taylor.

Kim was preceded in death by his parents Darrell and Jeanne Alleman.

Contributions may be made to dementia research or to the Magnolia Township Preservation Association.

Visitation will be from 5 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at the Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel in Granville.

Funeral services will be held at Magnolia Methodist Church in Magnolia at 1 pm on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.  Burial will immediately follow at the Magnolia Cemetery in Magnolia, IL.
