Matilda Tillie Twardowski

Matilda "Tillie" M. Twardowski, 87, of rural Granville, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2012, at Illinois Valley Community Hospital, Peru. She was born on February 9, 1925 in Dalzell to Alphonso and Maria (Pinotti) Galassi. She married Edwin Twardowski on February 23, 1952 in Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, LaSalle. She attended LaSalle Peru High School. She was a homemaker and also worked at the shipyards in Senica and Leslies shoe store. She was a member of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Spring Valley, Altar and Rosary Society, LaSalle Civic Women's Club, 4-H leader and Standard Mothers Club. Survivors are her husband Edwin Twardowski of rural Granville; one son, John (Rene') Twardowski of Granville; one daughter Mary Jo (Joseph) Suarez of Oglesby; three grandchildren, Steven and Jennifer Twardowski and Justin Suarez; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters. In lieu of flowers donations may be directed to Standard Fire and Rescue, Granville Fire Dept. and Putnam County Ambulance Training or donor's choice. Pallbearers will be Steven Twardowski, Justin Suarez, William Hebel, Pete Meyer, Dan Withrow, Edmund Wieczorek, Ronald Mini, and Alan Aimone.

Service/Memorial Information

Service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Dysart - Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville. Fr. Paul Meismer will officiate the service. Burial will be at Valley Memorial Park, Spring Valley. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Dysart - Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville.
