Michael R. Bence

Michael R. Bence, 59, of Granville, IL, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015 after a short illness. Mike was born August 20, 1955, the son of Robert and Mary T. (Jeppson) Bence. He graduated Putnam County High School and attended I.V.C.C. and wallpaper school. He then worked as a machinist at Sundstrand Corporation in LaSalle for 30 years and then worked at Mennie Machine Co. in Mark, IL for 10 years as an inspector. He enjoyed camping and building things with his hands. He married Karla Reaska on December 23, 1993 in Ottawa, IL. She survives along with his mother Mary T. Bence of Granville; one brother, Richard (wife Anahi) of McNabb and a sister Peggy (husband Robert) Chafin of Orient, OH. Two step children Tonya Fry of Peru, and Tammy Thompson of Salem, MO. Also are 12 grandchildren, Darien, Jenna, Aieden, Ryan, Matthew, Cody, Rauslan, Brittney, Philip, Jordan, Alexandria, and Lavetta. And two great grandchildren, Westin and Sutton also survive Michael. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Service/Memorial Information

Services will be held Friday, January 23, 2015 at the Dysart - Cofoid Funeral Chapel in Granville at 8 pm with Fr. Patrick DeMeulemeester officiating. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 pm at the funeral chapel. Per Mike's wishes, Cremation rites will follow services.
