Michael Bruce Rugen

Michael Bruce Rugen, 77 of Oglesby passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at home with his loving family by his side.

Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 17, 2021 at Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville.  Fr. Patrick DeMeulemeest will officiate.   Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Granville.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. 

Michael was born on April 14, 1944 in Chicago to John and Dorothy (Johnson Gatten) Rugen.  He married Sandra (Sons) Kozell on April 30, 2021 at IVCH in Peru.

Michael was a self employed painter.  He had attended Lane Tech in Chicago.  He worked at IVCC where he was a custodian and first responder.   Michael had also worked at Caterpillar.

He was a NRA member.

Survivors include; his wife Sandra Rugen of Oglesby; three sons, John (Bonnie) Rugen of Iowa, Michael Rugen Jr. of Oglesby and Jeff Rugen of Madison Heights, Michigan: one daughter, Michele (Rugen) Soberri of Long Point; two step-children; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Gloria; one brother, John and one sister, Carol.
