Nildo E. Mecagni

Nildo E. Mecagni, 91, of Granville, IL, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014 at St. Margaret's Hospital, Spring Valley, IL. Mr. Mecagni was born December 28, 1922 in Standard, IL, the son of Joseph and Irene (Piccinelli) Mecagni. He graduated Hopkins High School and worked and retired from Marquette Cement (Lonestar). He married Rose Story on December 6, 1947 in LaSalle, IL. Nildo was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and past member of Gypsum & Lyme Workers Union. Mr. Mecagni wis survived by his wife Rose; two sons, Allan (late Mary) Mecagni and Steve (Karen) Mecagni of Granville, IL; his daughter Bonnie (late Bill) Lucas of Ladd, IL; daughter in law, Terri Mecagni (late Vernon) of Granville, IL. Also surviving includes his sister, Enis Hurt of Standard, IL and 9 grandchildren; Mandy Thompson, Corey Mecagni, Sarah Mecagni-Bogner, Angie Mecagni Allen, Neil Mecagni, Gina Mecagni, Jeremy Lucas, Joseph Mecagni and Stephen Mecagni and 8 great- grandchildren. Nildo was preceded in death by a son, Vernon, and three brothers, Geno, Louis, and Frank and two sisters, Lena Wallin and Minnie Guglielmetti. Memorials may be made to the donors choice. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

Service/Memorial Information

Visitation will be at the Dysart - Cofoid Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 from 5 - 8 pm and also on Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 9 - 10 am with prayers at 10 a.m at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granville at 10:30 on Thursday, April 10, 2014. Fr. Patrick DeMeulemeester officiating. Burial will be in the Granville Cemetery.
