Peter James Fassino, Jr. died on September 30, 2014 at 4:20 PM in Henry, Illinois. Pete was born in Granville, Illinois on February 15, 1930, the only child of Peter James Fassino Sr. and Mary Bernardi Fassino. He is survived by his wife Charlene Fitzgerald Fassino, one daughter Judith Fassino Barlow, Spring Valley, Illinois and three sons; Jim (Sally) Fassino, Dunlap, Illinois, Michael Fassino, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and David (Annie) Fassino, Melbourne Beach, Florida. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; Eliott Barlow, Roy Rada, Janelle Fassino Harre, Cheryl Fassino Bendtsen, Nicholas Fassino, Emily Fassino and Marissa Fassino and 4 great-grandchildren. Pete graduated from Hopkins High School in 1948 and the Graduate School of Banking, University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1975. Pete and his father owned and operated a family grocery store, Fassino's Certified Super Market, until it was sold in 1966 [at the time his father retired]. Pete joined the Granville National Bank in 1966, where he worked until he retired in 1989 as the bank's president. Pete enjoyed woodworking, restoring antique autos and loved aviation, he also enjoyed traveling. Pete was active in the Granville Businessman's Association and was a founding member of the Granville Rotary Club. He was a life-long promoter of Granville, recruiting businesses and professionals to the community he loved. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Putnam County First Responder's or the Putnam County Achievement Center.
Service/Memorial Information
Visitation will be held Friday, October 3, 2014 from 4 PM until 7 PM with a memorial service at 7 PM at Dysart - Cofoid Funeral Chapel in Granville, Illinois. Fr. Patrick DeMeulemeester will officiate. A private burial will be at a later date. Time of fellowship will follow the services at 7 p.m. Fellowship time will begin at 7:30 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Hall.
