Richard “Rich” E. Lutes, 76, of rural Tiskilwa passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at the LaSalle, IL Veterans Home, LaSalle, IL.
His wishes were to be cremated. Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be a private graveside service held at a later date in Magnolia Cemetery, Magnolia, IL.
Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel will be assisting the family with the arrangements.
Rich was born on June 30, 1949 in Henry, IL to Edwin and Bertha (Russell) Lutes. He was the third youngest of 17 siblings. Rich was drafted into the United States Army. When he returned home he sold insurance and became interested in collecting antiques and selling them. He owned a video store in Princeton, IL for many years.
He enjoyed hunting for ginseng and then selling it, he also enjoyed mushroom hunting. He loved watching the deer and wildlife outside his home.
Survivors include six sisters, June Underwood of Livermore, CA, Barb Colwell of LasVegas, Nevada, Carol (Dean) Ehnle of Wyoming, IL, Rosie Morris of Pueblo, Colorado, Sally Reaska of Magnolia, IL, and Linda (Henry) Bates of Magnolia, IL; three brothers, Edwin (Pat) Lutes Jr of Tallahassee, Florida, Bill (Linda) Lutes of Chillicothe, IL and Jim Lutes of Morton, IL. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Blanche Smith, Gloria Rehm and Mary Colwell; four brothers, Ronnie Lutes, Bob Lutes, Joe Lutes and Donnie Lutes.
