Born January 23, 1924 in Magnolia, Illinois, Russell Keith Glover was the third son of Frank and Ada Potter Glover. He lived in many communities within Marshall and Putnam Counties throughout childhood and his adult life. He died January 10 after enjoying two years as a resident of Cabin Livin' in rural Hennepin. Upon graduating from Magnolia High School in 1942, Mr. Glover was drafted into the military and served in United States Army in the U.S. and abroad. While stationed at Surrey, England, he met and married Zena Youell Unwin, returning to Magnolia in 1946. In his many years, Russell worked for the Jewel Tea Company, City of Henry Streets Department, Illinois State Police, Caterpillar, Sundstrand, and "retired" from the Cutting Tools Division of the Valeron Corporation. He married Catherine Compasso in 1965, the two settled near her childhood home in rural Granville. After retirement, Russell was active in the Putnam County Historical Society and with the Granville American Legion Post 180. He recently enjoyed taking an Honor Flight to visit the WWII Memorial in Washington D. C. Russell Glover was preceded in death by both parents, brothers Glen and Francis, and two wives. He is survived by children who include Keith Glover, Neal Glover, Kathy Gensini, Peggy Lami, and John Urnikis; seven grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Service/Memorial Information
Visitation will be held at the Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel Thursday, January 12 from 9 a. m. to 11:30 a.m., with remarks at 11:30 a. m. Graveside service at the Magnolia Cemetery will follow immediately.
