Ruth Delores Colby, 102 years young, of Heritage Health Care (formerly of Hennepin) passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Saint Elizabeth Medical Center, Ottawa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2023 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Hennepin. Fr. Patrick DeMeulemeester will officiate. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville. Rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m.
Ruth was born on October 26, 1920 in Hennepin to Paul Levi and Mary Eliza (Gleason) Smith. She married John Colby.
She graduated from Hennepin High School. She worked at Elwood Ordinance in Wilmington, Green River Ordinance in Amboy, Westclox, in Peru and Harper Wyman in Princeton for 29 ½ years. Ruth was also a hostess at Econo Foods in Peru, she enjoyed meeting people and they would tell her they just loved seeing and talking to her also.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and St. Patrick’s Altar & Rosary Society.
Survivors include one daughter, Rita (Gary) Borri of McNabb; one son, Ken Colby of Hennepin; one sister, Helen Henning of Heritage Health Care, in Peru. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jason (Tanya) Colby, Josh (Dana) Colby, Mike (Kelly) Borri, Joe Colby, Christina (Josh) Eshleman and Aimee Hernandez; 18 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; her sister, Grace Henning and one great granddaughter, Jocelyn Colby.
Pallbearers will be Jason Colby, Michael Borri, Joe Colby, Josh Colby, Josh Eshleman and Ron Colby.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude or Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation (P.K.D. Foundation).
