Sonya (Stout) Baran, aged 51, passed away on August 30, 2025, in Bloomington, IL. She was born on July 30, 1974 in Spring Valley. Sonya was known for her vibrant engagement with life's passions and the community around her.
Celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Sonya spent her life deeply involved in various activities that reflected her caring nature and intellectual curiosity. She had a profound love for music and animals, often dedicating her time to animal care. Her engagement in political discussions and debates showcased her keen interest in societal developments and her desire to contribute thoughtfully to conversations that mattered.
Her commitment to community service was evident in her numerous acts of kindness and the relationships she nurtured within her community. Sonya also created and managed a successful online platform on Facebook for bearded dragon enthusiasts, which became a thriving hub for reptilian husbandry education, thanks to her initiative and the support of her close friends.
Sonya was a cherished member of her family, survived by her father, Daniel Ritz; sister, Patrice (Dennis) Stadler; children, Shelby (Sean) Fitzgerald, Tanner (Frankie) Stout, Lucas Baran, and Savoy (Chris) Baran; nieces, Mars (Andrew) Subola, Ashley Stadler, and Hannah Stadler; and grandchildren, Jude, Summer, and Poppy. She was preceded in death by her mother, Peggy Ritz.
Sonya's life was a testament to her loving spirit, her fervor for meaningful connections, and her unwavering support for those she loved. Her legacy will continue to live on through her family, friends, and the many lives she touched.
