Spirit “Pete” Vacca, 81 of Cisco,Tx. Passed away at his home on Thursday, April 15, 2021.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 on Friday, April 23 at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Granville, IL. Elder Farris Wilks and Elder Dwayne Wilson will officiate.
A private visitation will be held for the family prior to the service. Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel will be assisting the family with the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Danny Andrews, Gary Mansager, Lee Martin, Gregg Schwarting, Richard Gimbal and Galen Hooper.
Pete was born April, 17, 1939 to Joe and Mary (Piccioli) Vacca. He grew up in Mark and graduated from Hopkins High School in 1957. He married Mary Jean Daley on August 27th, 1960.
Pete and Mary Jean made their home in Granville and raised their 5 children there. Pete started his Police career in Mark, and then moved on to Granville Police Department, He served for many years as a deputy in Putnam County. He was Chief Deputy when he retired in 1981 after being shot in the line of duty.
He was ordained as an Elder in 1981 with Yahweh’s Assembly of Messiah in Rocheport, Mo. where he served as the local pastor for many years until he retired to Cisco, Tx. He spent these last years as an Elder with Assembly of Yahweh 7th Day Church in Rising Star, Tx.
Survivors include his son Pete (Ronda) Vacca of Somerset, KY; four daughters, Chris (Gregg) Schwarting of Mark, IL, Betsy (Lee) Martin of Raymond, Washington, Merrett (Danny) Andrews of Columbia, MO and Stacie (Gary) Mansager of Cisco, TX; also surviving are his eight beloved grandchildren, Kailee Headman, Erin Jones, Michael Martin, Jordan Mansager, Ariel Schwarting, Rachel Lewis, Madison Vacca and Abigail Vacca; six great-grandchildren, Parker, Lou, and Barrett Mansager, Will Jones, Renlee Lewis and Michael Martin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister, Diane; one daughter, Laura Jean at birth and great-granddaughter, Ashlynn Martin.
