Theodore "Ted" Timke Obituary

Theodore H. Timke (Ted), 81, of Granville, passed away in his home after a very brief illness on November 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Services will be at 10:30 am Monday November 10, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, County Line Peru with Minister Dave Kromphardt officiating. Burial will follow in Granville cemetery with military honors.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 pm on Sunday November 9, at the Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel in Granville.

Ted was born on March 11, 1944 in Pekin, IL to Harold and Erma (Volk) Timke.  He married Anita E. Ploch on February 20, 1965 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Peru.

Ted was baptized and confirmed at Sand Prairie Lutheran Church, Green Valley, IL. He was raised on a dairy farm southwest of Pekin, IL.  He was called to serve his country in the US Army, stationed in Fulda Germany from 1966 to 1968 as a Spec. 5 M60 Tank Track Mechanic.  He later worked as an assistant plant manager for Amoco Fertilizer; chief maintenance for Moews Seed Company; and remodeled houses for Builders Choice.

Ted was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, County Line, rural Peru and served as President of the congregation and various other positions.  He spent his vacations at his wife's family cottage in Tomahawk, Wis. lovingly maintaining it and continuing his love of fishing. He pursued his passion of deer hunting with his father-in-law, his son, and his close friend Jimmy Ahlstrom.  He loved time spent with his daughter and beloved granddaughters.  All his life he used his mechanical ability in woodworking and projects for his friends and family.  Above all he loved the time spent with his wife and best friend Anita.  Ted had time for everyone.  He will be dearly missed, loved, and never forgotten.

He is survived by his wife, Anita of 60 years, son William of Tomahawk Wis., daughter Tina Kelch (Bob) of Groveland, IL, and granddaughters Jessica Conness of Peoria and Alyssa Conness of Peru; also a sister Barbara Mills and brother-in-law Roger (Carolynn) Ploch.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Erma Timke and in-laws William and Esther Ploch.
