Toni Louise Sabotta

Toni Louise (Ellena) Sabotta, 75, of Hennepin passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021 at OSF St. Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford with her family by her side.

The family will have a private service at a later date.   Cremation rites have been accorded. 

Toni was born on January 13, 1946 in Spring Valley to Tony (Anton) and Irma (Querciagrossa) Ellena. 

Toni was her Dad’s right-hand man growing up whether it be in the fields, bailing hay or lying in the field hunting.  She worked at Rolando’s Supper Club, The Ranch House, put herself through beautician school, operated O’Connor’s Bar & Restaurant and worked at LTV Steel for 27 years in the shipping department until it closed.  Toni then took care of the elderly, made lots of ravioli and finally got to mow all the grass she wanted to.

The only thing in life that mattered to Toni was her family.  She never missed a life event or school activity and was always the first to offer her help.

Toni’s faith was very strong.  She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hennepin.  She will be remembered as having a good opinion and a heart of gold.  She will be so very missed.   

Survivors include two sons, Steve (Barb) Sabotta and Dave (Chris) Sabotta; one daughter, Kelly (Harvey) Curley all of Hennepin; eight grandchildren, Amber, DaiLynn,  Justin, Shawn, Brian, Jon, Daniel, and Annalise; seven great grandchildren, Rosie, Beau, Blake, Bentley, Kinsleigh, Collin and Colton and one more on her way; six sisters, Helen (Fran) Aimone, Emma Haywood, Kathy (Rich)Van Beuning, Mary (Jerry) Mooberry, Laurie (Dan) Kotecki and Shelly (Brad) Kays and many nieces and nephews.  Toni also leaves behind three spoiled cats and one spoiled dog.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Karl in 1962 and Joseph in 1964 and one sister, Diane Ellena and one brother, Mike Ellena.
