Virginia Macklin Obituary

Virginia Macklin, known to friends as "Gail” was relieved of her battle with cancer on December 27th 2019, at the age of 70 years, at home.

Memorial arrangements are in the care of Dysart-Cofoid funeral home, Granville IL.

A visitation and public memorial will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel.

Born in Dante, VA to Omer and Ruth (Ramsey) Pippin, Gail moved to Hennepin in 1972 where she made a home for herself and her family. Gail was a loving wife, mother, and friend to many. As an accomplished gardener, she had no greater joy than in sharing her many flowers with anyone who wished. She held a vast knowledge on many subjects, but her desire to learn something new never waned. She was also a skilled seamstress, amazing cook, and there was very little she was unable to accomplish when determined. No person was ever turned away from her door or her dinner table. Her fondest moments were those spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her Husband and best friend of 40 years Steve of Hennepin; three sons Damon Macklin of Princeton , Jason (Jennifer) Macklin of Hennepin and Drew (Missy) Sabotta of Putnam; one daughter, Stephenie (Brian) Lloyd of Walnut; one brother, Ronnie Pippin of Wilmer, AL; four sisters, Sue (Ray) Cochran of Wilmer, AL, Macie Davis of Bridgeton, NJ, Betty (Lester) Jessee of Castlewood, VA and Doris (Charles) Powell of Jacksonville, NC;  nieces, Jessica (Shawn) Hatch of Galesburg and Lucille Bush of Galesburg; 11 grandchildren and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

Gail will join her sisters, Brenda and Louise, and her Mama and Daddy.

Memorial donations can be made to St. Margaret’s Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
