William (Bill) Tonarelli, 87 of Granville passed away at home Monday, October 13, 2014. Bill was born November 16, 1926 in Granville to William & Anna (Signorini) Tonarelli, Sr. William spent his whole life in Granville attending Hopkins High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy during WWW II. He served on the USS Wasp that shot down the last Kamikaze plane of the war. Upon returning from the Navy William began operating Bill's Snack Bar, Granville. He later operated and managed the Standard Oil Fertilizer Plant for 20 years retiring in 1983. William married Dorothy Trebusak on June 5, 1945 in LaSalle. They were married 60 years she survives in Granville. Also surviving son, Michael (Sharon) Tonarelli; daughter, Julie (Michael) Kelsey; daughter-in-law, Denise Tonarelli; three grandchildren, Leslie & Eric Kelsey; Brandon(Meredith) Tonarelli; sister, Shirley Wince and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robbie; three brothers, James, Louis & Raymond; two sisters, Katherine and Mary. William was a 65 year member of Granville American Legion # 180, The Sacred Heart Holy Name Society, past member of Granville Fire Department, member of WWII Honor Flight in 2012 to Washington D.C.and also attended the daily morning meetings at Granville Corner Store Coffee Club. Private memorial services will be Friday at Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville with Father Patrick DeMeulemeester officating.
