Obituary

William “Bill” J. Halley, 76, of Granville (formerly of Hennepin) passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Illinois Veteran’s Home, LaSalle.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  There will be no service.  Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel will be assisting the family with the arrangements.

Bill was born on October 23, 1946 in Gallipolis, Ohio to George William and Elizabeth Irene (Counts) Halley.

He graduated from Middle Port High School in Ohio.  Bill served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was the captain of the commercial barge he worked on for American Commercial Barge Line.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Lacon.

Survivors include five daughters, Billie Milby of Granville, Debbie (Kevin) Ely of Granville, Malissa (Kirk) Thompson of Dayton, Ohio, Melissa (Wayne) Hons of Lake City, Florida and Cynthia (Rhonda) Adams of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren, Hunter, Cody, Emily, Rachel, Conner ,Chase, Kayleigh, Jacob, Taylor, Matt, and Spencer and 9 great grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ruth Ann Carsey.
